Borgata Online Casino Review
The Borgata is the largest (and arguably the nicest) of the land-based casino properties in Atlantic City. Naturally, the casino was among the first to launch an online gaming site when it became legal in the state in 2013. The Borgata has had a few years to develop now, and the result is one of the better collections of games in New Jersey as well as some enticing promotional offers.
Borgata Games and Gaming Software
The Borgata covers all of the major game categories you would expect from an online casino: slots, table games, video poker, table poker and more.
Slots fans will find 301 games in total on the virtual gaming floor. This includes 11 with progressive jackpots and 12 that are exclusive to the property. Some of these exclusives are shared with playMGM (MGM owns the Borgata), but there are five progressives that can only be found at the Borgata at this time:
- Fire Drake
- Sweet Hawaii
- Pirate’s Booty
- Candy Store
- Money Boat
In addition, you’ll only find the Let’s Soccer video slot at Borgata.
The table game selection is surprisingly thin for one of New Jersey’s oldest online casinos, but the basics are covered. There are four types of blackjack, one craps table and one Texas Hold ‘Em table. Baccarat is available at the live dealer casino.
Video poker fans will find a little more to sink their teeth into here with 12 varieties, including a five play multi-hand game. Other gaming options include five types of virtual sports, three types of scratch cards, two types of Slingo, and Mega Ball Action. There is also a separate poker room that requires you to download software or an app to play.
Mobile Device Support
Borgata has mobile apps for both iOS and Android. Most of the game roster carries over to mobile, though there are only six progressive slots instead of 11. Mobile users might simply try playing through their web browsers even if their operating system is not supported, however, as most of the game lineup here is available for instant play.
Borgata Live Dealer Tables
Live dealer game adoption has been slow in New Jersey for some reason. Borgata was only the second casino in the state to offer live video streaming games, and only just made them available in early 2018.
Since the casino is still in the early stages of onboarding their live dealer offerings, there are only four games at present: Casino Holdem, American Blackjack and Roulette, and Dragon Bonus Baccarat. The “Dragon Bonus” is a popular baccarat side bet, allowing players to bet that either the player or house will win by an overwhelming amount of points.
The live games are available daily until 3 AM. They are then usually offline until around noon the next day.
Signup and Ongoing Bonuses
Borgata is currently offering new players $20 in “bonus dollars” just for signing up, plus an initial deposit match of 100% up to $600. The bonus dollars are free play that can be used at any slot game; there is a wagering requirement of only 1x to withdraw winnings, but only slot play counts toward the wagering requirement, no other game types are eligible. The initial deposit match has a wagering requirement of 10x before funds can be withdrawn. Though that’s certainly not as favorable, it’s still better than most online casinos.
Borgata also offers various rotating promotions like leaderboard challenges, bonus dollars for playing certain games, cash back days and deposit matching on account refills. These offers rotate as often as every few days or so, so interested players should definitely get in the habit of checking the “Promotions” tab on their site once or twice a week to keep up.
The poker room has its own set of promotions such as a progressive high hand jackpot (with no side wager required) on Wednesdays through Sundays, bonus express comps for certain game types, and real-world bonuses (like a free buffet at the Borgata) for playing in a certain amount of tournaments. As with the main casino, these offers rotate all the time so you’ll want to keep an eye on the website to see what is currently active.
Borgata Loyalty Program
Borgata is owned by MGM and uses the same iRewards loyalty program that playMGM does. You can use the iRewards comp points you earn online as if they were real money at the Borgata in Atlantic City, or one of MGM’s numerous other properties in places like Las Vegas and Tunica.
The online version of Borgata has a separate tier program, however. It is not shared with M Life or the iRewards system at playMGM. There are five tiers here, but they have different names and different earning thresholds, and you are also required to earn more points on a monthly basis here to maintain your standing. It’s easier to climb the tiers here than it is with the other programs, but you’ll have to play more frequently to maintain your status.
Rewards for moving up the tiers include a better iRewards point conversion rate and weekly/monthly bonus offers. At the highest tier, Black Elite, you can get comp rooms at the Atlantic City Borgata without having to spend any points.
Deposit and Withdrawal Options
You can both deposit and withdraw using direct transfers to and from your bank account, Visa, MasterCard, or by way of cash at the Borgata casino cage. You can also make cash deposits with the PayNearMe service, which simply involves getting a confirmation number online then bringing it to any 7-Eleven to pay.
24-hour support is available by email (email@example.com) or by phone (877-448-5833).
The website additionally has a FAQ page and a contact form that allows you to attach files.
Borgata is definitely worth keeping an eye on for its constant flurry of promotional offers, and there’s no reason not to take advantage of that welcome $20 bonus with only a 1x wagering requirement! The collection of table and live dealer games could really use some work, but slots fans will find plenty to sink their teeth into and the poker side of the site is very popular.
